THE SKI AREA

Tignes is part of the Espace Killy and is therefore one of the most renowned ski resorts in the Alps. It boasts a huge skiing area of over 300 kms of slopes and is where the French ski team chooses to train. As Tignes is one of Europe’s highest resorts at 2100m, snow is almost guaranteed right down to the resort throughout the whole season. Thanks to the presence of the glacier, you can also ski all year round. The area is on the edge of “Le Parc de la Vanoise”, a protected National Park, which also makes Tignes an interesting base for trekking.

There are outstanding freeride routes and two constantly developing snow parks. At the heart of the Vanoise massif in the Upper Tarentaise Valley, the Espace Killy in the undisputed kingdom of great skiing in both winter and summer.

The legendary and panoramic ski area stretches from the Pissaillas Glacier above the Col de I’Iseran to the Grande Motte Glacier naturally encompassing Val d’Isere and Val Claret at Tignes. A total of 1,900m of height differential and around 100 ski lifts open up a full range of pistes of all colours – 25 black, 46 red, 61 blue and 22 green, so that everyone from experienced competitor to amateur beginner is free to ski as they like.
